Specifics of the plan
The University Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) is proud to announce a partnership with Holland Insurance, Inc. to offer student health insurance through UnitedHealthcare Student Resources.
Health insurance is required for students enrolled in programs with a clinical or research component. Students will be required to either accept coverage offered by UMMC through UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Student Resources or provide proof of existing coverage. If no action is taken at the end of open enrollment, students registered for programs that require health insurance will be automatically enrolled. This plan is compliant with The Affordable Care Act.
Who is eligible?
- All UMMC students enrolled in a program with a clinical or research component
- Eligible Dependents of the student (legal spouse and children under the age of 26)
- Optional dental, vision, and life coverage is available for both students and their dependents, and may be purchased through UHC Golden Rule Term Life, Dental, and Vision.
What's new?
- Students who take no action during the enrollment period will be automatically enrolled in this plan.
- Students will utilize the UHC Student Resources - Student Center for enrollment activities.
- Students will submit all documents using the UHC Student Resources - Student Center and will no longer submit documentation to UMMC's Office of Student Accounting.
What's in the plan?
The certificate of coverage, plan benefits, provider search, insurance card access, and additional information are available on the UHC Student Resources website.
Quick Plan Highlights:
- Preventive Care Services (annual physicals, screenings, immunizations): 100% of allowed amount
- Plan Deductible for In-Network: $500
- Coinsurance: 80% of allowed amount for covered medical expenses
How do I enroll?
A student eligibility file will be shared with UHC Student Resources prior to open enrollment at which time the student will be enrolled by UHC Student Resources unless the student opts out with proof of existing comparable health insurance coverage.
Alternatively, a student can choose to self-enroll through the UHC Student Resources - Student Center.

Things to consider...
- Depending on when a student enrolls, the insurance premium may or may not already be reflected on the UMMC Student Account in Workday. If a student has received a financial aid refund prior to the insurance charge posting to the UMMC Student Account in Workday, the student should retain a portion of the refund to pay for the health insurance costs.
- Charges for dependent insurance premiums will not appear on the UMMC Student Account in Workday. Students will pay for dependent insurance premiums directly in the UHC Student Resources - Student Center at the time of enrollment.
- Dependent premiums will be due at the time of enrollment. Pending the timing of the students' financial aid refund, a portion of the financial aid refund may need to be retained to pay for the premium at the time of enrollment.
- Charges for optional UHC Golden Rule Term Life, Dental, and Vision insurance plans will not appear on the UMMC Student Account in Workday. Students will pay for this optional coverage directly in the UHC Student Resources - Student Center at the time of enrollment.
- Premiums for optional coverage will be due at the time of enrollment. Pending the timing of the students' financial aid refund, a portion of the financial aid refund may need to be retained to pay for the premium at the time of enrollment.
